Thomas Muller will join MLS in the summer of 2025, and expectations for the American League are even higher with the addition of a new European soccer star who has been Messi’s rival on several occasions. The former Bayern Munich striker has signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps and, after a few months of adaptation, is determined to make his point about football on this side of the world.
Having played in countries with great stadiums and where soccer is very important, Müller experienced a new reality in MLS, knowing that its popularity is still growing.
Thomas Muller expresses disappointment with MLS
European soccer players come to MLS with the idea of ending their careers and playing with less pressure, but it appears Muller wanted to continue in a full soccer environment, as he seemed somewhat “disappointed” in his recent comments.
In a conversation with Men in Blazers, Muller revealed his perception of American soccer.
Football is still not very relevant to the lives of ordinary people here. Not a hot topic at the office on Monday morning.
Despite the initial perception, Muller explained that the situation is different at the stadium. “But the football bubble is actually not that small. There is an uplifting atmosphere in the stadium. People are interested in the game.”
Thomas Muller aims for revenge in MLS
Muller’s arrival in MLS started off as a good thing. The player also advanced to the final of the tournament against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, but lost in the end, ending his good run with the Argentina national team.
After losing in the final, Müller is focused on improving in 2026, with his club having made a strong start to the season with two wins from two games and so far the team is on the right track.
The German striker is tired of winning titles in Germany and now wants to win one in MLS, but that won’t be easy as Messi will be aiming for a second successive title in what is expected to be more exciting than ever.
