Jude Bellingham – What would England do without you?

The Real Madrid midfielder was once again a hero for the Three Lions, taking England to the last four of the World Cup with two strikes.

Thomas Tuchel’s side were forced into a comeback in the first half with Andreas Schjelderup’s fortuitous opening goal.

But Bellingham took the game by the scruff of its neck and tied the game just before halftime.

And although neither team could score a winner in the second period, Bellingham’s close-range shot early in extra time ensured England’s place in the semi-finals.

Despite having overwhelming possession, England were unable to convert any clear chances and found themselves behind in the 36th minute.

Schelderup picked up the ball on the left and crossed it, which found Jordan Pickford’s wrong foot and went over his head and into the top corner of the goal.

Kane wanted a free kick after losing the ball on the halfway line, but VAR saw no reason to intervene.

The Norwegian could have doubled their advantage when former Crystal Palace forward Alexander Soros broke through, but he was no match for Erling Haaland and the danger was gone.

Bellingham recovered the ball from Anthony Gordon on the edge of the area and found his way out of the hole. Bellingham outran two defenders and fired a left-footed goal past the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

Bellingham’s introduction of Kane just before half-time almost turned England around. He shot the goalkeeper but was denied by the offside flag.

Torbjorn Heggem thought he had put Norway in front early in the second half after Pickford passed Soros’ header from a corner kick.

However, Haaland fouled Elliott Anderson during a corner kick and VAR intervened.

After a rehydration break, the Norwegians had the opportunity to attack the front line again. Pickford took a corner kick, but the ball was turned back and Christopher Adger headed it against the crossbar.

Neither team could find a winner by the end of the 90 minutes, but Bellingham stepped up to send their country into the last four.

Just minutes into extra time, substitute Morgan Rodgers fired a long-range shot that found its way into the palm of goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, and Bellingham was on hand to sweep the rebound away.

England thought they had a chance to double their advantage from the spot when Oscar Bobb brought down Jed Spence. However, the on-field penalty decision was overturned by VAR.

All eyes will now be on the match between Argentina and Switzerland, which will take place in the early hours of Sunday morning UK time, with the winner facing England in Atlanta on Wednesday night.
