Julián Quiñones has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs following his outstanding performance at the FIFA World Cup in Mexico. Chelsea have been linked with the Mexican forward in recent days, with Aston Villa emerging as the latest suitors.
According to reports, Villa are interested in signing Mexico’s top scorer for the 2026 World Cup and could spend a lot of money to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season, when they will compete in the UEFA Champions League.
Aston Villa monitoring Julián Quiñones
After speculation surrounding a move to Chelsea subsided, another Premier League club has set its sights on La Pantera. Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are coming off a fantastic season, finishing fourth in the league and qualifying for the 2026-27 Champions League.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Villa have already contacted Quiñones’ agent to determine whether he is willing to leave Al Cadósia and join English football. The club is said to have presented an ambitious sporting project with the aim of eventually challenging the Premier League’s traditional ‘big six’ – Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.
365Scores reports that interest in Villa is not new. The club has been tracking Quiñones for several months and sent scouts to evaluate him during the 2026 World Cup. Their verdict was very positive after the striker scored four goals and provided one assist for Mexico. Villa’s recruitment department reportedly believes his athleticism and style of play are well-suited to the demands of the Premier League.
Villa with a patient approach
Although interest is growing, Aston Villa are not expected to be in any rush to make a deal.
Following Quiñones’ performance with Mexico, the club has approved its pursuit of the striker, but remains cautious in its approach, Tavolieri reported.
“The English club has contacted the player’s camp to assess the feasibility of a transfer. Talks between the parties have recently intensified, indicating Aston Villa’s growing interest in Julián Quiñones.”
However, Tavolieri stressed that no formal offer has been made at this stage.
“So far no formal bids have been made, but the situation could change in the coming weeks.”
As things stand, Aston Villa have yet to make a formal offer for Al Cadosia. Quiñones recently extended his contract with the Saudi club until 2029.
