Real Madrid are approaching a crossroads in choosing the next manager. Timing is important. With current projects stalled, the club is desperate to restore stability and, more importantly, get back to winning trophies.

Real Madrid’s new manager?

As transfer speculation and rumors of a managerial appointment mount, club legend Jorge Valdano has offered important insight into who could fit the bill, although he has firmly shut the door on familiar faces.

“Mourinho is a finished chapter at the club and I don’t think he will come back,” Valdano told Movistar.

When considering alternatives, Valdano identified Mauricio Pochettino as the clear frontrunner. “He has attracted the attention of Madrid many times, which shows that his profile resonates with the club’s vision,” he explained.

Valdano also made a strong case for Didier Deschamps, citing his pedigree and leadership in the dressing room. “As a World Cup winner who has already managed the likes of Kylian Mbappé, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Choameny, he knows exactly how to handle elite talent.”

Conversely, Valdano remains skeptical of Jurgen Klopp despite his elite reputation. “Klopp needs time to implement his system, but Real Madrid simply don’t have that luxury.”

Finally, he expressed concern about Lionel Scaloni: “His quality is undeniable, but he lacks experience at club level. Hiring him would be a big gamble.”

With several big names on their roster, Real Madrid are preparing for a decision that will determine the club’s immediate future.
