FInter Miami, who won the MLS Cup for the first time in club history, have exercised the $15 million buyout clause of Argentina’s World Cup-winning midfielder Rodrigo de Paul. The 31-year-old, who was on loan from Atlético Madrid, is now a permanent member of the Florida-based club.
Messi once again shows why he will improve every team he joins
Among other moves made by the Herons, the departure of full-back Marcelo Weigand stands out. He will return to Boca Juniors after his loan ends. The club is still working to resolve the situation with Luis Surez.
Rodrigo de Paul and Messi are inseparable
De Paul has signed a contract with Inter Miami until the 2029 season. Starting in 2026, he will be eligible for one of the Designated Player (DP) slots, meaning salary cap exemption, which will be vacated by the retirements of Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. Both have decided to retire.
The Argentinian midfielder joined Inter Miami after the Club World Cup and won the MLS Cup with 2 goals and 7 assists in 20 appearances.
On the other hand, Luis Sures’ future remains uncertain, as there are rumors that he will be joining other clubs. We will have to wait and see whether the Uruguayan striker stays to continue playing alongside Messi or embarks on a new adventure elsewhere.
