BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Barcelona won its seventh straight women’s Spanish league title with a 4-1 win over Espanyol on Wednesday.

With this victory, Barcelona opened an irreversible 16-point lead over second-place Real Madrid.

It was the Catalan club’s 11th league victory.

Barcelona won 25 of 26 games in this tournament. The only setback was a 1-0 loss against Real Sociedad in November.

The team, coached by Pere Romeu and featuring players such as Alexia Putelas, Aitana Bommati and Caroline Graham-Hansen, has scored 116 goals and conceded seven, with a goal difference of 109. Madrid’s goal difference is 38 points.

Carla Furia put Barcelona ahead in the second minute of the match against Espanyol. Graham Hansen increased the lead before half-time and Martine Fenger scored twice after the break.

Espanyol, who are in 11th place, equalized with Laia Balleste’s penalty in the 28th minute.
