Brooklyn also claimed she was pressured to take away the rights to her name, while accusing Victoria of “directing” the first dance at their wedding and dancing “inappropriately” with her. O’Kane, a former United star and Beckham’s former colleague, has chosen a side in the controversy and suggested the revelations have not completely shocked him.
He tweeted: “I lived with Beckham for several years and let’s just say he liked total control and was a stickler for perfection.
“If Brooklyn had to say this and burn down a so-called perfect family. No matter what happened, Brand Beckham shouldn’t be in front of the kids!!!”
Brooklyn’s accusations were revealed in a lengthy statement shared to her Instagram Stories. In it, he wrote: “My family values public promotion and recommendation above all else.
“The Beckham brand comes first. A family’s ‘love’ is determined by how much they post on social media, even if it means sacrificing their professional obligations, or how quickly they drop everything and show up and pose for a family photo shoot.”
“For years, we have worked hard to support and show up at every fashion show, every party, every press event to show ‘our perfect family.’ But when my wife asked for my mom’s help in rescuing evacuated dogs during the Los Angeles fires, my mom refused.
“The story about my wife controlling me is completely the opposite. I’ve been controlled by my parents most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. Ever since I was separated from my family, that anxiety has disappeared for the first time in my life.”
“I wake up every morning grateful for the life I have chosen, and I feel peace and relief. Neither my wife nor I want a life shaped by images, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for ourselves and our future families.”
