Alexander Isak has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool since signing a record-breaking £125m deal from Newcastle United, scoring just one goal so far.
Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has revealed why he thinks Alexander Isak has struggled to repeat his Newcastle United heroics since his move to Liverpool. The Reds signed Isak from the Magpies in a huge £125m deal on transfer deadline day.
Since leaving St James’ Park, Isak has made eight appearances for Liverpool, scoring just one goal, against Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
Isak failed to find the back of the net for three consecutive Premier League games before missing the defeat against Brentford with a groin problem.
Before moving to Anfield, Isak scored 27 goals for Newcastle last season, including the winning goal in March’s Carabao Cup final victory over the Reds.

His impressive form secured Isak a place in last season’s PFA Team of the Year, but that version of the striker is currently a far cry from the one who arrived at Anfield.
Saha, who has scored 84 goals in 288 Premier League appearances for Manchester United, Everton, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham and Sunderland, has now released his assessment, claiming Isak is guilty of overthinking things.
“I see something holding Alexander Isaac back,” Saha told BetVictor. “Whatever it is, he takes a moment to think things over, but everything was very natural at Newcastle.
“That’s why he was so unpredictable. He could hit the ball from left, right, center or take a header and it was really, really difficult to mark his movements. But this is something you have to adapt to.”
“Without the best physique, you have to constantly increase your concentration, which is not easy.
“So I think it’s important that we get that confidence to the highest level, especially since Liverpool are probably struggling to get things going at the moment. I’m sure Isak will be part of that success.”
However, Arne Slott has plenty of attacking options, including Hugo Ekitike, Federico Chiesa and Kodi Gakpo, who could fill in for Isak if he continues to falter.
Ekitike, also a summer signing, has made an excellent start, scoring three goals in eight league games, making him the club’s top scorer this season.
