Yes, the first Messi Cup is scheduled to be held in Miami in December 2025. The Argentine star, through his production company, has announced the launch of this innovative international youth soccer tournament, which will bring together some of the world’s most prestigious clubs at U16 level.
The first edition will be held in Miami from December 9th to 14th and will feature a high level of competition, but that’s not all. The Messi Cup also hosts various cultural and sports industry events.
Which teams will be participating in the Messi Cup?
The Messi Cup is a new concept in the world of youth soccer, combining sports and entertainment that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Its mission is to create long-term value in the career development of athletes.
The tournament will feature eight world-class clubs: Inter Miami, Barcelona, Manchester City, River Plate, Inter Milan, Newell’s Old Boys, Atlético Madrid and Chelsea. Over six days, these teams will play a total of 18 games at Miami’s most iconic venues, including Inter Miami CF’s Chase Stadium.

In addition, Faena Forum will host the Football Industry Summit, which brings together important figures from sport, culture and business, while Pao by Paul Cuy will be the venue for the Messi Cup Summit Party, the official party that will enhance the event as a unique fusion of football and cultural celebrations.
In the competitive format, teams are divided into two groups of four and compete in a round-robin format over the first three days. A playoff will then be held to determine the final standings. On the final day, the third-place match and grand final will be held at Inter Miami CF’s Chase Stadium, where the first-ever Messi Cup champion will be crowned.
“The Messi Cup is the meeting point for today’s football and the players of tomorrow,” said Tim Pastore, CEO of Messi’s production company 525 Rosario. “This is an opportunity to celebrate talent, culture and community and create a legacy and bond that will last beyond the field of competition.”
