Current Brazil national team manager and former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti recently commented in an interview about his relationship with Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior, whom he coached in the past and who could now be included in Canarinha’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.
The former Italian World Cup player also commented on the character of Real Madrid and his future with the Brazilian national team, where he will continue to manage one of the most important teams in the world for many years to come.
Carlo Ancelotti on Vinicius Junior: “The Vini who comes here is completely different from the Vini at Real Madrid”
Throughout this week, Vinicius Junior has been in the spotlight during the Champions League play-off match between Real Madrid and Benfica, and the Brazilian national team is not immune to the topic.
In the new edition of Universo Valdano, a space where Jorge Valdano talks about football with people who have already left their mark on the world of football, the Italian coach was asked about the Vinicius case, and the strategist commented:
I talked to him. Players must respect their coaches and teammates. He has greatly improved his on-field demeanor. Brazilians are very humble and very strange. The Vini who comes here is very different on a human level from the Vini at Real Madrid.
The historic coach was also asked about his feelings towards the Verde Amarella national team and how he sees himself after the 2026 World Cup.
I think he will renew his contract for four years in Brazil. It’s my new job and I love it.
Brazil and the road to winning the 2026 World Cup
Brazil is in Group C for the 2026 World Cup, along with Morocco, Haiti and Scotland. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that he will only call up players who are fit and can contribute to the group, so Vinicius Junior is expected to be included in the final squad for Italy’s squad.
If Ancelotti’s words are true, Vinicius has improved his attitude with the Brazilian national team and with Real Madrid, gradually regaining the confidence and form seen in the past few years, and if all goes well, the striker should have no problem making it onto the short list.
