Bianca St. Georges scored in stoppage time and the Boston Legacy defeated Denver Summit 3-2 on Sunday for the expansion club’s first regular-season win.
In other National Women’s Soccer League games, the Chicago Stars lost 2-0 to the visiting Portland Thorns.
Natasha Flint found Yazmeen Ryan, who dribbled a few times and fired a shot from outside the box past Casey Murphy to give Summit a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute.
Nichelle Prince scored the tying goal for Legacy in the 44th minute. Summitt regained the lead in the 77th inning with a precise left-foot strike from Flint that broke the deadlock.
Aissata Traore, who came on as a substitute in the second half, scored in the 90th minute to tie the score again at 2-2. Traore’s header found its way to Saint-Georges, who won the game in stoppage time, completing a comeback for Legacy (1 win, 5 losses, 1 draw).
Summit (1-3-3) suffered its second straight loss, extending its losing streak to four games.
This was the first matchup between the latest NWSL expansion teams.
Thorns remain on the table
Olivia Moultrie became the youngest player in NWSL history to play in 100 NWSL games, contributing to Portland’s victory with a goal and an assist.
Moultrie took the lead in the 17th minute with an assist from Pietra Trudin. Both players have contributed to six goals this season.
After a second half in which the Chicago Stars (2-6-0) had more possession, more shots and more shots on goal, it was the Thorns who made the breakthrough. In the 89th minute, Moultrie sent a pinpoint pass from distance that allowed second-half substitute Raelyn Turner to beat goalkeeper Alyssa Neher and slot the ball into an empty net.
Mackenzie Arnold made four saves for her third clean sheet of the season and fifth overall for Portland (6-1-1), which moves into first place in the league standings.
