The Hollywood star recently confessed that his life could have been very different had the Inter Miami forward not derailed his childhood dreams. Of course, Messi had no such intentions, and if he had focused on sports and not acting, perhaps he could have put them together in a team somewhere in the future. who knows?

“The truth is, I wanted to be a soccer player. I played until I was 18, and then I remember watching Lionel Messi play. He was about 23 years old. That’s when I thought, ‘I’ll never be as good as this guy.’ So Lionel Messi is the reason I retired from soccer,” he recalled.
He also warned that he would like to meet Messi one day and tell his story. “If I ever meet him, I hope he’ll meet me and congratulate me. I’ll tell him he’s the reason I quit football. He was so good.”

Damson Idris was born in England to Nigerian parents, so football played a very important role in his life. His latest sports movie has nothing to do with the sport, but with Formula One. He co-starred with Brad Pitt in “F1: The Movie.”
But Idris will soon be reminded of his old days as a footballer. On May 31st, he will take part in the Soccer Aid charity match at the Olympic Stadium in London.
