Details of Gabriele Vaccaro’s murder: bullying, altercations, arrest of minors and failure to help
Gabriele Vaccaro was allegedly stabbed with a screwdriver after a fight over pizza.
The Castrum Favara footballer and his friends were returning to their parked car in Pavia at around 3:30 a.m. when they encountered five young men who, according to a police report, taunted them and demanded they give them pizza.
A scuffle broke out amid the taunts and threats, and Gabriele Vaccaro was hit in the stomach with a screwdriver or a punch.
A 17-year-old Egyptian student was arrested for the crime. During interrogation, he exercised his right to remain silent and was taken to Beccaria Juvenile Detention Center.
Four of Vaccaro’s friends are under investigation for failing to help the injured soccer player.
They appear to have witnessed the attack, but did not take part in it or even call emergency services to help the injured.
