Real Madrid’s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich continues to resonate in matches with refereeing controversy, with one of the harshest voices coming from Oliver Kahn.
The German club’s former goalkeeper criticized Los Blancos’ typical reaction when a referee’s call doesn’t go their way.

The match at the Allianz Arena ended 4-3 (6-4), and despite two goals from Alda Gleir and one from Kylian Mbapp, goals from Pavlovic, Harry Kane, Luis Daz and Mikael Olise ended Real Madrid’s hopes of a comeback and a place in the semi-finals.
However, the merengues’ dissatisfaction with the referee was vocal. Dani Carvajal was one of Slavko Vincic’s most vocal critics of refereeing, and after a controversial 86th minute Eduardo Camavinga was sent off for a second yellow card and Luis Das’ goal made it 3-3, he exploded: “It’s your fault! It’s your fault!” he shouted at him. Coach Lubalo Arbeloa also complained about the referee: “He ruined the draw.”
However, the former Bayern goalkeeper did not hesitate to speak out against this attitude, which, in his words, is nothing new whenever things do not go his way.
“We have to stop this,” Khan stressed on ZDF (via SuperDeporte). “They can’t keep running away like this. When things don’t go as planned, it always ends in chaos,” he explained.
They act as if every correct referee’s call must go their way.
Furthermore, the former goalkeeper pointed out that this is not the first time something like this has happened and compared this situation to the complaints Bayern faced last season.
“Tonight was no different. Last year they did the same thing to us and this season we are doing the same thing. It is unacceptable and it has to stop,” he recalled, adding:
To be honest, this says a lot about how they were able to win the UEFA Champions League title 15 times.
The incident further heightened the overall tension surrounding Champions League officiating. In recent days, the debate has been reignited, with both Real Madrid itself and other major European clubs (such as Barcelona vs. Atlico Madrid) expressing dissatisfaction with various decisions.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have already set their sights on the first leg of the semi-final, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, April 28th at 3pm ET, while the second leg will take place simultaneously at Germany’s Allianz Arena on Wednesday, May 6th.
