‘Game over’ for Arbeloa: Barcelona critics say Real Madrid legend ‘can no longer fool anyone’

Alvaro Arbeloa is experiencing his worst moment since taking over from Xabi Alonso on the Real Madrid bench. Two previous setbacks in La Liga (2-1 against Mallorca and 1-1 against Girona) and last week’s defeat against Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabéu have put his future on the White team’s bench in doubt. In this critical situation, some in the Catalan press are quick to dismiss his career as a coach.

In an opinion column entitled “The Bluff of Alvaro” published by Enric Jobe in Sport magazine on Tuesday ahead of the second leg against Bayern Munich, Arbeloa received a long list of harsh adjectives against Real Madrid’s management. He calls him a “cheap bubble,” “the president’s puppy with a chalkboard,” and “a spokesman in a jersey.”

“Alvaro no longer deceives anyone: not the Madrid fans, not the dressing room, but even worse, himself,” he says. “His record as Real Madrid manager will be poor, although he remains as arrogant in his speeches,” he says.

“He wanted many things: the club’s spokesperson, the president’s shield, the players’ bullhorn. He was as obedient and obedient to the board as he was lazy to the stars,” it read. “Weak coach” Real Madrid’s locker room “sniffed and bit” in “10 minutes”. “He walked into the kitchen thinking he was a chef. They put him in an apron and made him do the dishes. And he accepted. ‘Impostor syndrome’ reached its highest level.”

Finally, he asserted that “in football, as in life, those who talk too much end up portraying themselves,” and said that Arbeloa had “blown up his own career.” He even speculates that it doesn’t matter what happens in the Champions League, but today this statement sounds dangerous. “You are guilty. Today even the Champions League will not save him. Game over,” he concludes in the controversial article.
