TA special event will be held at the Miami Grand Prix on race day next Sunday, May 3rd. The reason for this is none other than the fact that after Lionel Messi’s presence was confirmed, the paddock of the Miami Gardens International Autodrome will be adorned with the presence of one of the greatest GOATs of the moment.
Fernando Svart, an Argentinian journalist who specializes in motorsport and is close to Franco Colapinto, broke the news that, barring force majeure, La Pulga will take part in Sunday’s race due to the day off, as Inter Miami will play the Clasico del Sol against Orlando City on Saturday, September 2nd.
One of Messi’s motivations for attending the paddock is his good relationship with Franco Colapinto, but interestingly, he does not know Messi personally, although they have passed each other on several occasions.
If Messi comes to the paddock, he will have the chance to meet Checo Perez. The Mexican and Alpine driver are the only Latin Americans who speak Spanish at F1’s Gran Circo.
In a post for X, Svart said: “Messi has already received an invitation and replied: “If nothing happens, of course. I would like to visit Franco in the box. I can go on Sunday.” Previously, it was planned that Colapinto would also visit his admired player if possible. It would be during a training session or during an intensive Inter Miami match.
It should be recalled that Czech and Messi met in 2018, when the Guadalajara driver, who was then with Racing Point, went to watch the match between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou, and the official account of the Blaugrana club published a photo of their meeting.
The relationship between the two is very good, with the Czech Republic congratulating Messi on Argentina’s World Cup victory in Qatar in 2022.
