aL-Nasr’s 5-2 victory over Al Najma in the Saudi Pro League on Friday was special not only because of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to action after a month out with a hamstring injury, but also because of the Portuguese star’s heartwarming gesture.
During the match, Brazilian forward Felipe Cardoso approached Cristiano Ronaldo to ask for his jersey, as is often the case in a player’s life, and even more so for CR7, but what happened next changed everything.
Cristiano’s classy gesture towards his opponent in Al Nasr’s rout
Midway through the match, Cardoso decided to realize one of his biggest dreams and asked Al Nasr’s captain to give him his jersey at the end of the match. But Ronaldo’s warmth captivated even Felipe.
Cristiano didn’t just accept the request. He paused to read the name and number on Cardoso’s back, trying to remember the details so he wouldn’t make a mistake later when changing jerseys.
After the game, the 41-year-old Portugal star kept his promise and handed the Brazilian forward his jersey. The Brazilian forward scored a goal and assisted Al Najma’s second goal. Cardoso was moved by the gesture and shared a photo of the jersey on his official Instagram account.
“Unfortunately it wasn’t a good result for the team, but this day will be etched deep in my memory,” he wrote in an article about the result against Al Nasr.
Felipe also posted several photos of himself talking and shaking hands with CR7 after the match.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo scored two goals in Al Nasr’s victory, moving him even closer to the 1,000-goal milestone, now 33 goals away from reaching 967 goals.
Meanwhile, Al Nasr will face Al Qudud on Saturday, April 11th at the Prince Hasloul Bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium in Round 28 of the Saudi Pro League.
