TThere are only 70 days left until Mexico and South Africa open the biggest show in world sports. And now that it’s known which team managed to get a ticket to the big event, the Opta supercomputer distributed the fortunes. And when it comes to technique, the Spanish team doesn’t seem to do badly.
Despite losing the top spot in the FIFA rankings to France after the game against Egypt, Spain remains the favorite to win the title in the United States, with a probability of 15.83%.

Next to Luis de la Fuente’s team is France, the number one team. Les Bleus have a 12.77% chance of becoming world champions in their third consecutive final.
Following France are England and Argentina, both with over 10%. The reigning champion is not the favorite to retain the crown he won in Qatar in 2022. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal round out the top five, with Opta giving Portugal a 6.92% chance of winning their first World Cup. Brazil and Germany fell out of the top five, finishing in sixth and seventh place respectively.
The best eight teams in third place will also pass through this tournament. It will be difficult to see the big teams fall at the first hurdle. Still, there will be fierce competition to finish third in the group and be one of the eight countries to advance to the Round of 16.
And Opta has this to say about the third-place teams: South Korea, Iran, Australia, Austria, Ivory Coast, Sweden, Ghana and Qatar will be the last to advance to the finals.
