TBarcelona’s Lamine Yamal has taken to social media to share his thoughts after chants of “Don’t jump Muslims” were heard during Spain’s match against Egypt at RCD Stadium last night.
The young Muslim striker was the first to leave the field, depressed and upset after the incident that occurred 10 minutes into the match at Espanyol’s stadium, where Luis de la Fuente’s team could only play a goalless draw with Egypt.

“I am a Muslim, alhamdulillah (praise be to God). Yesterday I heard chants in the stadium that said, ‘He who does not jump is a Muslim.’ I know it was about the opposing team and not me personally, but as a Muslim, it is still disrespectful and intolerable.”
As a Muslim, this is disrespectful and unacceptable behavior.
I understand that not all fans are like that, but for those who sing things like this: “Using religion as a mockery on the field makes you look like ignorant, racist people. Football should be enjoyed and encouraged, not disrespecting who people are or what they believe. That said, thanks to everyone who came out to support us, see you at the World Cup.”
Reactions at all levels
After the match, members of the Spanish team and the RFEF were publicly outraged by the incident, as was the case with Rafael Lousan, Luis de la Fuente, or some senior players.
The Mossos have already launched an investigation into the incident, which has tarnished Spain’s image and will almost certainly result in a fine from FIFA within the next few weeks.
