Enzo Fernandes is making headlines in England, as The Telegraph revealed today with inside information from the dressing room. With the team being eliminated (completely defeated) by PSG in the Champions League and a far cry from the form they showed in June with the conference and Club World Cup titles, the focus is on the biggest debt in Premier League history (300 million last season)…and some stars looking for an exit, especially the 2022 World Cup winner, the 25-year-old Argentine. His contract with Chelsea runs until 2032, and he will arrive at Chelsea in 2023.
In fact, his on-field altercations with several team-mates raised eyebrows in the dressing room, including a heated argument with goalkeeper Jorgensen against PSG, as well as other players who were seen being reprimanded by him on the pitch for one reason or another.
To all this was added a “tour” through various media, which made him want to remain in Madrid, although his starting price could not be lower than 100 million euros. “The best opponents I have played against are… Kroos and Modric, they are great, even though they eliminated us in the quarter-finals at the Bernabéu…” Toni recently expressed his long-standing admiration for the German in particular, as he showed on social networks when he announced his retirement. “I want to live in Spain. I really like Madrid. It reminds me of Buenos Aires,” he said on the podcast. “I’d like to live in Madrid. A footballer can live anywhere he wants.”
Earlier, following the Champions League exit at the hands of PSG, he questioned his continuity with the Blues, saying on ESPN: “I don’t know. There are eight games left, there’s the FA Cup, there’s the World Cup and then we’ll see.”
“This is Chelsea, not a stepping stone to another team. If your heart is already in Madrid, you shouldn’t wear the blue shirt. At Chelsea, you played for the badge, not for a future transfer,” says Blues legend Obi Mikel, whose side has been in turmoil since Maresca’s departure. “That created some uncertainty,” admits Cucurella, another player who is eyeing a possible call-up from Barcelona.
