ROberto Gómez made one of the most memorable headlines with his daily intervention on the program “La Tribu de Radio MARCA” presented by Raul Barrera. In the comments of the current analysis, “Bobby” (as Raul affectionately calls him on the broadcast) revealed his impossible admiration for Real Madrid, who need quality players in midfield since the departure of Kroos and Modric.
“The player that Real Madrid wants to sign, and the president, is a midfielder… and his name is Pedri,” Gomez said live on TV, immediately sparking a debate in the studio.
Pedri stands out with outstanding skills in Barcelona training
This comment caused an immediate reaction from Raul Varela, reminding him of the great difficulty of such an operation. “But he won’t be able to sign,” the host said, to which Gomez sarcastically left the door open and replied: “I don’t know…no Barcelona player has ever signed for Real Madrid.”
Several historical precedents regarding players transferring between the two clubs were quickly mentioned, such as Schuster, Mikel Soler and Luis Milla, but the most media-favored case of all is that of Luis Figo. These names indicate that, while unlikely, it’s not an impossible move.
Lots of desires but little ability to execute
Gomez insisted it was a sporting preference, saying: “Pedri is the player that Florentino Perez and Real Madrid want.” However, he also admitted that a deal would be difficult, especially due to the Canary Islands’ contract situation and his importance in Barcelona’s project.
The journalist also revealed that one part is desire and the other part is feasibility. “One is what you like to do, and the other is what you can do,” he jokingly commented during his speech.
Roberto Gomez’s revelations come at a time when Real Madrid are still searching for young midfield talent. However, Barcelona has no intention of parting with the Canary Islands diamond.
