TThroughout his career, Lionel Messi has amassed an almost unrivaled record of 48 titles in total, making him the most decorated player in all competitions.
However, there are some titles that he never won and some that he has yet to get into the trophy case.
Titles Messi didn’t win
Throughout his 20+ year career, Leo has won the majority of the tournaments he has competed in. With Barcelona, Messi won 35 trophies, including 10 La Liga titles, 8 Spanish Super Cups, 7 Copa del Rey titles, 4 Champions League titles, 3 UEFA Super Cups and 3 Club World Cups. With Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel won three trophies: two Ligue 1 titles and one French Super Cup.
Although he could not win the Champions League with the Parisian club, he had already won the Champions League with Rose. However, according to Planet Football, Messi missed out on the Coupe de France, the only trophy he has not won in European football (excluding tournaments in which he has never played).
With Inter Miami, he won four titles: the League’s Cup (2023), the Supporters’ Shield (2024), the Eastern Conference Championship in 2025, and the MLS Cup in the same year.
The Argentine star had a chance to add one more thing to his collection: the CONCACAF Champions Cup. In 2024, they lost to Monterrey in the quarterfinals, in 2025 they reached the semifinals and lost to Vancouver, and most recently in 2026, they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Nashville after a 1-1 tie in the second leg at Chase Stadium (0-0 in the first leg). However, they were eliminated due to the away goals rule, and Messi and Inter Miami’s dream of winning their first title was dashed.
To summarize, the titles that Messi missed out on were the French Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup, but Leo has renewed his contract with Inter Miami until December 2028, so there is a possibility of a rematch in a future tournament if he can qualify.
With Argentina, Messi won gold medals at the 2008 Olympics and the U-20 World Cup, but had a tough battle to win the title with the Albiceleste. After losing several finals, they managed to reach the final against Italy, won two Copa Amrica titles (2021, 2024) and, of course, qualified for the long-awaited 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
On the other hand, on an individual level, despite being nominated seven times for his spectacular goals and being named the best player of the tournament (Golden Ball) twice, he has never won the Pascu Trophy, for example, or been the only World Cup top scorer and won the World Cup Golden Boot award.
Ahead of the new tournament, Lionel will have the opportunity to defend the title he won in 2022 and possibly win this coveted honor. In Group J, Argentina will face Algeria on Tuesday, June 16th at the Kansas City Stadium. They will then face Austria at Dallas Stadium on Monday, June 22nd, and Jordan on Saturday, June 27th.
