LOve, family and football come together again. Federico Valverde’s hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 brought joy not only to the fans but also to his family.
The Uruguayan midfielder scored three goals in the first 45 minutes and emotionally remembered his children and wife after the match. And they praised him too.
Valverde: hat trick on and off the field
Fede and Mina Bonino met in early 2019 and have shared countless moments over the past seven years. After the Real Madrid star’s three goals, his wife could not have been more proud.
On her official Instagram account, the Argentine journalist shared a post from her husband’s team on her Stories and dedicated a warm and emotional message to him.
“We can’t say anything. We know everything. My entire family. No one deserves incredible things to happen in their lives more than you,” she wrote.
Mina also shared a sweet photo of herself with her husband and sons Benicio and Bautista, posing with a ball and the game’s MVP trophy.
Meanwhile, Fede and Mina have announced that they are expecting their third and first child, Bruna, making it a hat-trick for the family.
After the match, Fede was asked what he would do with the trophy and the ball from the match, as it is customary for players who score a hat-trick to take home the trophy and ball. Excited, he couldn’t believe he was scoring a goal and said, “I thought it was a dream.”

One journalist joked, “Even my own children won’t play with this ball,” but Valverde kept the ball and clarified that “the children will be happy with it.”
“I will give the children signed balls and MVPs. It’s a dream night. I haven’t had this much fun in a long time,” admitted the Uruguayan player.
He also confessed that it would be difficult for Benicio and Bautista to sleep that night and said that they “were going to play together until the time they wanted,” revealing his tender bond with his young children and the great happiness that fills him.
Now, after suffering a heinous defeat to Josep Guardiola in Madrid, the two sides will meet again in the second leg at the Etihad Stadium on March 17th. But before that, they will host La Liga side Elche CF at the Bernabeu on Saturday the 14th.
