a A few weeks ago, Cristiano Ronaldo surprised everyone with a new move in the football world. This time it wasn’t because of his goals, his play or his injury, but because on February 26th he announced that he had acquired 25% of Unin Deportiva Almera of Spain’s La Liga Hypermotion.
Now, with his team in second place in the standings after a huge 3-0 win against Cultural Leonesa, the 41-year-old Portuguese player could not be happier and prouder.
CR7 celebrates Almera’s victory
With a four-point difference from leaders Racing Santander and a three-point difference from third-placed Casteln, CR7’s team standings guarantee direct promotion to La Liga, as they aim to return for the first time in two years.
For this reason, since February the club’s new owners decided to publicly congratulate Almera, sharing this achievement with his 672 million followers on Instagram.
In their story, CR7 posted a photo of the team celebrating the win on the field and gathered in large numbers. Additionally, the Al Nasr star wrote in Spanish:
“Gran Victoria Hoy. Seguimos @Ordalmería (Great win today. We’re still going @Ordalmería),” he wrote, adding red and white emojis in praise of the club.

His new acquisition was made at the end of February through CR7 Sports Investments, a new subsidiary of CR7 SA, and he said in a statement:
“I have always had the ambition to contribute to football beyond the field. UD Almera is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear growth potential,” Cristiano said in a written statement, according to ESPN.
Meanwhile, CR7 is staying in Spain after traveling to Madrid to treat a hamstring injury after Al Nasr was forced to be substituted in their last match against Al Faiha (3-1).
The player is expected to miss Al Nasr’s game against Al Khaleej on Saturday and is doubtful for Portugal’s last two friendlies before the World Cup against Mexico and the USMNT on March 28 and 31 respectively.
