Lionel Messi has revealed that he looks like he is doing his best and is still in top form and preparing in the best possible way for the 2026 World Cup. The Argentine superstar didn’t see Inter Miami trailing on the scoreboard, stepping up to lead them to a 2-4 victory over Orlando City in the MLS match.
MLS recognizes Messi’s talent
Following this outstanding performance, No. 10 was named MLS Player of the Matchday for Round 2 of Major League Soccer.
The team led 2-0 in the first half, with Messi taking command. He leveled the score at 2-2 with a powerful shot from outside the area, assisted Venezuela’s Telasco Segovia for a 2-3 goal, and capped off his outstanding performance with a free-kick goal that clinched Inter Miami’s victory.
This is the 13th time that Messi has been named MLS Player of the Matchday since joining Miami in 2023, and the first time in the 2026 MLS season.
The Argentine captain, who won MLS MVP the past two seasons, is surpassed in this historic category by only Landon Donovan (19 awards) and Jeff Cunningham (14), both players with more than 10 years of Major League Soccer experience.
