Lionel Messi was once again a star in MLS, but this time it was Orlando City who were leading Inter Miami by two points, but ended up losing 4-2 thanks to two goals from the Argentine. After his great performance, Messi received praise from all over the world, but most importantly from his coach Javier Mascherano.
In his post-match press conference, Inter Miami’s manager praised his star player, who is preparing to play again at the World Cup with Argentina.
Javier Mascherano praises Messi
Mascherano praised Inter Miami’s comeback, but most importantly, when asked about Messi afterwards, the former footballer described him as simply the best.
“Leo, in addition to what I have already said a thousand times, obviously he is the best player who has ever played this sport…He is a leader and as a leader he infects others and often has to infect others. I mean, he has to see things on the pitch to be able to believe,” Mascherano said.
Leo is clearly the best player to ever play this sport, in addition to what I have already said a thousand times…a leader
The Inter Miami coach also added, “I think he looked a lot better in the second half… We started to find him in places and positions where he felt comfortable and we were also able to give him more options from there.”
