Lionel Messi continues to shine in MLS, and after scoring twice in Inter Miami’s win over Orlando City, the Argentine striker has risen to the top of the free-kick scoring list, setting a new record and surpassing all-time greats and even Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi scored another free-kick goal against Orlando City, which has already generated work for statisticians. The striker scores goals in all possible ways, but his number of free kicks is high and he is already among the top footballers who have scored the most free kicks.

Leo Messi reaches 70 free kick goals

Inter Miami did not have an easy match in the new season of MLS. Javier Mascherano’s side started losing 2-0, but thanks to the genius of Lionel Messi they were able to turn things around and score two goals, one of them from a free kick.

With this new free-kick goal, Messi now has 70 goals from this route, joining the list of players with the most free-kick goals. Among them are some past legends, but as of now there is one Argentine striker who has yet to surpass him.

One legend that Messi has already surpassed is Argentine player Diego Armando Maradona, who reached the number of free-kick goals scored with 61, and is joined by players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also below the Inter Miami player.
