Cristiano Ronaldo could have surpassed 1,000 goals: the statistic that changes everything

a What started as a normal match turned into a nightmare for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is aiming for his 1,000th goal in total. The match ended in a 3-1 victory between Al Nasr and Al Faiha, but the Portuguese player sounded the alarm.

The striker left the field injured in the second half, but his ordeal began when he missed a controversial penalty following a foul on Mohamed Simakan. But one statistic makes the situation even worse for El Bicho.

CR7 could have hit 1,000 goals.

With Al Nasr’s victory, they regained the top spot in the Saudi Pro League with a two-point lead over Al-Ahli, while Al-Hilal are just one point behind.

Eleven minutes into the match, CR7 could have broken the deadlock and added one more goal to their 965 points. However, the ball was deflected and his historic scoring streak came to an end. During the matches, he could not score and sometimes left the field with an injury.

“He was feeling muscle fatigue. After we were 2-1 up, we didn’t want to take any chances, so we substituted him. The medical department will assess his condition, but it was just muscle fatigue that he was feeling,” coach Jorge Jesus said.

Sadio Mann equalized in the 72nd minute, and shortly afterwards Joan Flix and Abdullah Alhamdan made the final score 3-1, with Al Faiha scoring through an own goal from Abdullah Al Amri. However, the CR7 shot stole the show.

CR7 has taken 218 penalties in his career and after yesterday’s miss, he has now missed 36 shots, making him the player with the most missed penalties in history. However, he is also the player who has scored the most goals from the penalty spot.

Nevertheless, his 36 mistakes cost him perhaps the most important milestone in his career and football history – the event of becoming the first player to score 1,000 goals.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who has scored 965 goals, is 35 goals away from reaching this legendary milestone, which he would have achieved had he converted those penalties, and would have surpassed it had he converted the penalty against Alfa Piaja.

Ronaldo has scored 451 goals for Real Madrid, 145 for Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, 5 for Sporting Lisbon, 143 for Portugal and 120 for Al Nasr.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Cristiano will feature in Al Nasr’s upcoming matches.

Al Wasl vs Al Nasr – Wednesday 4th March – AFC Cup quarter-final first leg. Al Nasr vs Neom Sports Club – Saturday 7th March – Saudi Pro League. Al Nasr vs Al Wasl – Wednesday 11th March – AFC Cup quarter-final second leg. Al Khaleej vs Al Nasr – Saturday 14th March – Saudi Pro League.
