22026 will likely be the most important year ever for U.S. soccer. Pele’s arrival in Japan was a revolutionary moment, similar to Lionel Messi’s arrival in 2023. However, hosting the FIFA World Cup is a completely different event.
In preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup draw, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has mobilized all locations in North America. In addition to the ubiquitous entertainer Kevin Hart, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, MLB MVP Aaron Judge, NHL GOAT Wayne Gretzky and NFL legend Tom Brady were also in attendance. It was clear from the beginning that this was a huge deal for the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Tom Brady is proud of North America, home of the FIFA World Cup
Brady was well aware of this, attending the drawing in person and proudly announcing his team. With less than four months until the World Cup, Brady added excitement to the World Cup by talking about how special it will be.
“Just knowing that there are now 48 countries participating in the World Cup across North America is incredibly exciting because it means more participants, more countries, more fans. They get to show off to a wider audience what they’ve really tried to accomplish throughout their lives, what they’ve really worked hard to get to the top of their sport. And the fact that they’re able to do it in America and show it on the biggest stage is just incredible.”
Brady is no stranger to reaching the pinnacle of the sport, having won a record seven Super Bowls. Despite soccer players having more avenues to win trophies through club and national teams, the World Cup remains the most important competition for almost all players.
It’s an honor for Brady and so many Americans to be able to host these players, who have dreamed of playing in the World Cup since they were kids.
