Coach Gianni Infantino confirms tickets for all 104 2026 World Cup games are sold out
FIFA’s president said the World Cup, to be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, had sold out 104 games involving 48 teams, setting a new attendance record in the history of world sports.
In the same statement, the FIFA president highlighted the tournament’s commercial success, saying that demand for tickets was overwhelming, with over 508 million ticket requests in just four weeks during the main sales phase, when only 7 million seats were available, all of which were sold out.
Gianni also commented that ticket applications were received from more than 200 countries, demonstrating the global reach of soccer. Infantino also commented that 77 of the 104 World Cup matches had more than 1 million requests each, a figure that is far from historic highs and incomparable to previous World Cup matches.
Are tickets for the 2026 World Cup really sold out?
The FIFA President said that tickets for each match are no longer available, but there is a very important point that must be made clear. That means FIFA is intentionally holding back some tickets at the last minute sales stage.
This phase will begin in April and last until the end of the tournament on July 19, 2026. This strategy allows FIFA to distribute remaining tickets on a first-come, first-served basis, but the majority of all available tickets in previous phases have already been allocated.
