TCristiano Ronaldo Jr. continues to win trophies with the Portuguese Under-16 national team, and his name will remain in the world of football for decades to come. The son of Al Nasr captain Ronaldo won his third youth international trophy, cementing his impressive early career and showing his exciting potential.
The Portugal Under-16s recently clinched the Algarve tournament title with a 3-1 victory over Germany in the third and final match at the Vila Real de Santo Antonio Sports Complex.
The young Portuguese side, who had previously beaten Japan 3-0 and the Netherlands 1-0, only needed a draw to seal the championship. Instead, the Selecao youth pulled off a perfect sweep.
Cristiano Jr. started against the Netherlands but came on as a substitute in the other two matches. His defining moment came against Japan, when he scored the second goal of the game with a stunning backheel assist to Jose Garrafa.

Cristiano Jr. is just 15 years old and has already won more youth international trophies than his father. Ronaldo Sr. had a storied youth career, but won only one title: the 2002 Toulon Tournament (now the Maurice Revelot Tournament).
In contrast, Cristiano Jr. currently boasts three youth international trophies and looks set to win a host of more overall at his current pace.
They previously won the Confederations Cup in Türkiye, defeating England 2-1 in the final. The starlet also represented Portugal U15 in the Vlatko Markovic tournament in Croatia, scoring twice in a 3-2 victory over the hosts.
Ronaldo keeps Cristiano Jr.’s feet on the ground
Despite his rapid rise to prominence, Ronaldo has worked hard to keep his son grounded and understand that his success has come from constant hard work.
In an interview with TV1 in 2019, he said: “When he saw my place (house), he couldn’t believe I lived there. ‘But were you really here?’ he asked me.”
“Nowadays everything is easy: houses, cars, etc. But to be a great soccer player, you can’t expect everything to fall from the sky.
“Talent doesn’t come to you, you have to grab it. You have to work hard. That’s what I’m trying to get him to understand.”
Ronaldo also stressed that he would never force Cristiano Jr. to pursue a professional career, saying in 2022: “I will never put pressure on him. He will do what he wants.”
“Also, what I want most for Cristianito and everyone else is for them to be happy and choose what they want. I will support them in any way possible.”
Ronaldo reveals he wants to play together
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Al Nasr star hinted at the possibility of collaborating on the field with his son before retiring.
“My son says to me, ‘Dad, please wait a few more years, I want to play with you,'” Ronaldo revealed.
If Cristiano Jr. continues on his current trajectory, that partnership could become a formidable force, combining a storied senior career with incredible young talent.
Having already won three youth international titles, Cristiano Jr. is not only following in his father’s footsteps, but also starting to build his own legacy in football history.
