Manchester United bosses appear to regret the deal that saw them sell Marcus Rashford to Barcelona for £26m. Rashford has revived his career, which had been in the doldrums since joining the Spanish giants on loan last summer.
He scored 10 goals in 35 appearances and regained his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. United believe Rashford’s value is now approaching £50m and are aware that several other clubs are interested in signing him this summer.
However, when a loan deal was signed between the two clubs, United agreed to give Barca the first option to sign him for less than £26m.
It is understood that some United executives are unhappy with the terms of the deal.

And with Rashford desperate to secure a move to the Now camp, Barça could look to take advantage of this by attempting to negotiate a further reduction in the forward’s price.
Caretaker manager Michael Carrick is said to be interested in bringing Rashford back to United.
However, there is no recall clause in this loan deal, meaning he cannot return to United even if all parties wanted him.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains keen to exempt Rashford from the club’s payroll. However, he is not excited about the prospect of Barça signing the 28-year-old on the cheap.
Rashford was one of United’s highest-paid stars, but he is only the sixth-highest paid player in Barça’s squad.

It is understood that Barça manager Hansi Flick is keen for Rashford to stay at the club for the long term.
Rashford is said to be enjoying life in Catalonia, having bought a luxury apartment in the wealthy suburb of Esprugs with views of the Collserola mountains.
His £15m-a-year contract with United runs until 2028. But Rashford has told those close to him that he has no intention of returning to his hometown club after making the difficult decision to take his career elsewhere.
Rashford is expected to be included in Tuchel’s final squad for this summer’s North American World Cup.
