TTension at PSG. PSG’s crushing defeat against Rennes (3-1) left a very bitter taste in the mouth of the European champions. It’s all because of Ousmane Dembele’s harsh comments, which manager Luis Enrique tried to downplay in a press conference.
The current Ballon d’Or winner publicly criticized this attitude in the dressing room, stating that the team must think more about the club and stop being selfish, saying: “If everyone plays for themselves on the pitch, this won’t work and we won’t win the title we want.”

“Last season, we put the club, the badge and Paris Saint-Germain before ourselves. We have to get back to that, especially in these kinds of matches. We have to show more desire. We are at Paris Saint-Germain to win games,” added a serious Dembele, once again urging his team-mates to think about the group rather than the individual.
Last season, we put the club, the badge and Paris Saint-Germain before thinking about ourselves.
When asked about this, Luis Enrique downplayed Dembele’s words. He said this in his usual frank manner. “I will not allow any player to believe that he is more important than the club. I do not believe in myself, I do not believe in the sporting director, I do not believe in the president, I do not believe in the club,” he said.
That comment was the result of anger after the game.
“These statements have no value. They are the result of anger after the game and I think that is clear. We have nothing to lose.”
“The comments made by the players after the game have no value. They have no value at all. The same goes for the comments made by the coach, and the comments made by the players have no value,” the coach insisted.
Players’ comments after games are completely worthless, and so are coaches’ comments.
“I will not answer any questions from any of the players. I will never allow any player to put himself above the club. I want to be clear: I am responsible for the team,” coach Luis Enrique concluded after the loss at Rennes.
