Serie A: Christian Pulisic’s Milan future is not yet signed, but Liverpool and Arsenal are ready

TThe situation around San Siro has gone from routine to unresolved.

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Christian Pulisic as a contract extension with AC Milan has yet to be finalized despite ongoing negotiations.

Pulisic’s AC Milan contract runs until June 2027, and for much of the season his long-term future seemed set in stone. Since joining from Chelsea, the 25-year-old has become a central figure in the attack and has been a consistent contributor in both domestic and European competitions.

According to reports in Italy, Milan and the player have reached an agreement in principle on a new contract by the end of 2025. Only the last step remains.

These steps are not yet complete.

The USMNT International is reportedly seeking clarity due to the postponement. He remains positive about Milan, but is reportedly “perplexed” that formal approval has not been given, as he had expected the contract renewal to be completed sooner.

“Several English clubs are interested in the American player next season and are prepared to make an offer to AC Milan to bring him back to the Premier League…

Interest in the Premier League is quietly growing

That pause has not gone unnoticed. Liverpool and Arsenal are said to be closely following the developments, while Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked to the situation in separate reports. There is no sign that any club has made a formal approach, and there is no indication that Milan are open to a sale.

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport previously reported that Milan consider Pulisic to be the core of their project and are hopeful that an extension will be completed. Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano echoed that position, pointing out that Milan’s intention has always been to secure his long-term future.

Still, in modern football, timing creates opportunities.

Why is this moment important?

This explains why Pulisic’s strong form is attracting renewed attention. After a period of instability in his final season at Chelsea, he had a more consistent season in Serie A, combining increased durability with strong attacking power. Looking at his numbers, he is one of Milan’s most productive attackers this season.

ESPN analysts are touting his comeback as one of the most notable seasons of any American player in Europe in recent years. That context has raised his profile as the Premier League’s top clubs reassess their attacking depth.

For Liverpool, that interest coincides with the team’s wider evolution. For Arsenal, this reflects their continued pursuit of a versatile and experienced forward. For Milan, securing an extension would remove uncertainty and protect a player whose value has increased significantly.

Future situation

Milan remain confident that the deal will be completed and there are no signs that Pulisic will push ahead with the move. The next step is administrative rather than dramatic.

But outside interest is unlikely to wane until the signatures are on paper.

This article is based on verified reporting from Italian and British media, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, analysis from ESPN, and comments from prominent transfer journalists. As of the publication of this article, no official statement has been made by the club or player.
