Lamine Yamal reminded us how young he is. The 18-year-old Barcelona star showed off his attacking talent at an early age, winning the affection of fans and the respect of his colleagues and rivals.
However, it turns out that Ramin is also a big fan of manga and anime, and chose two of his teammates to show similarities to the Pokemon series.
Yamaru compares his teammates to Pikachu and Charizard.
Lamine has made an impact on and off the field, and this was no exception. The promising young player recently spoke with ESPN and revealed that no matter how many titles or fame he has, he is still only 18 years old.
When he revealed that he had played cards as a child and was a big fan of the Pokemon series, he was asked to choose two of Rose’s teammates who reminded him of Pikachu and Charizard. He answered without hesitation:
“Pikachu is blonde so it would be Dani Olmo. Charizard? Tek Szczesny. He has an aura so it reminds me of him,” he said (via mundodeportivo).
What is interesting about his answer, beyond his choice, is that Olmo is almost 10 years older (he is 27) and Wojciech Szczesny is almost twice his age (35). Additionally, Lamine revealed that her favorite Pokemon is Zygarde.
Since making his debut for Barra on 29 April 2023 at the age of 15 years, 9 months and 16 days, Yamal became the youngest player to make his La Liga debut with the club and was part of the team that won two La Liga titles, one Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.
After a short but successful career with the Catalan club, he was named Young Player of the Year at Euro 2024 and finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings after leading Rose to a domestic treble.
This season, he played in a total of 30 games and recorded 15 goals and 13 assists.
Meanwhile, Lamine and Barcelona are preparing to face Atltico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semi-final first leg on Thursday, February 12th at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium. In the second leg, the reigning champions will meet their rivals on March 3rd at the Spotify Camp Nou.
