TAhead of the 2026 World Cup, the first update of the FIFA rankings of the year has arrived. There, important teams move up and down the list of best or worst teams, with Argentina reigning at the top of the world for many years.
The current world champions will be hoping to repeat the same feat as Lionel Messi and others as they aim to add another star to their jersey. Before the World Cup, we will tell you the position of Albiceleste and several Latin American teams in the rankings.
Albiceleste maintained their position in the rankings and became CONMEBOL’s strongest, as there were no major problems with their qualification for the 2026 World Cup. Spain, on the other hand, managed to stay in the table thanks to an excellent performance in the World Cup qualifiers and reached the Nations League final, where they lost to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal. Meanwhile, France, with Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembele, remained unchanged in third place.
In this latest update of the FIFA rankings, there was no change in the position from 7th to 1st place. However, after 8th place is where teams have dropped or moved up in the rankings.
The Netherlands are in 7th place, Portugal in 6th place, Brazil in 5th place and England in 4th place, followed by France, Argentina and Spain.
Which American teams are in the top 50 in FIFA?
The highest ranking for the United States was Argentina at 2nd, Brazil at 5th, and outside the top 10 were Colombia at 14th, USA at 15th, Mexico at 16th, and Uruguay at 17th.
Further within the bottom 20 are Ecuador at 23rd, Canada at 29th, Panama at 33rd, Paraguay at 40th, and Venezuela at 50th.
