○One of Alvaro Arbeloa’s priorities is to get the best out of Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian’s erratic season, his disdain for Xabi Alonso after being substituted in La Liga Clasico, or his laugh with Endrik on the bench against Talavera in the Copa del Rey (he didn’t play a single minute and the team had to break a sweat to finish the game) drew attention to the Real Madrid striker.
Arbeloa’s arrival was a boost for Vinicius. The coach hopes that No. 7 will once again feel good for the team and be able to make decisions. That’s why his public words for his players are unconditional support. Movistar Plus’ cameras captured a series of scenes between the players and the manager during the match between Real Madrid and Levante, which clearly shows the manager’s philosophy.
Vinicius went straight to the locker room after Real Madrid’s win at the Bernabéu
Arbeloa told Vinicius as he passed by the Real Madrid bench: “I always say, do your best. We’re going to crush you, crush you, crush you. Good luck, good luck.”
“This is the Vinicius I want to see.”
The truth is that unconditional support has continued since he took over the reins of the first team. After the Copa del Rey match against Albacete, the manager wanted to highlight Vini’s work and dedication. “It was positive to see where he came from and his effort. He wanted to be here and play his game instead of hiding. That’s the Vinicius I want to see. Some days he’ll have bright days and other days he won’t. This Vinicius is the captain and the person I want to see.”
Despite being eliminated in the Copa del Rey, Arbeloa justified the Brazilian’s defense and highlighted his strengths. “He never stopped looking up and asking for the ball… That’s a leader and that’s what I want from Vinicius and what I want to see in him,” he said.
Bernabéu referendum
The Bernabeu crowd made their feelings towards Vinicius clear with loud boos in the final match against Levante, but Arbeloa made light of the situation at the end of the match. “I’ve been booed a lot too, but what makes us great is the demands of this club and we always have to accept that well, because they know we can contribute more,” he said.
I’m going to ask my players to look for Vinicius.
He also revealed the short-term goals he has set for himself. “I’m going to try to get the best Vinicius and I’m going to demand that the players look for him. He’s fearless, he’s got character and he’s defended this club to the hilt. He’s one of the best, if not the best, in the world. He is one of the players who is breaking the Lance. He reflects what a Real Madrid player is. He will give us many trophies,” said Vini, who has been a starter and played the entire game in the last two games he has coached.
