TThe possibility of Inter Miami signing German player Bertelame has sparked debate both in Mexico and abroad. Sharing a dressing room with Lionel Messi seems like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but some Mexican soccer insiders have warned that making the leap to MLS in the crucial year leading up to the World Cup may not be the best decision for the Rayados striker.

Paul Aguilar recommends German Belterrame to stay at Rayados
Former Mexico international Paul Aguilar was one of those who spoke out about the possibility of Bertelame leaving Rayados for Inter Miami. Speaking on FOX Sports’ La Ultima Palabra, Aguilar said the move was not in the 27-year-old striker’s favor.
If I had to decide, I would stay at Rayados and go to another team after the World Cup. For me going to MLS is a step backwards, even if it’s an improved league.
For the former Club America player, Liga MX is more competitive and Rayados is a team he already knows and one in which he is a star. In this sense, it seems like a safe bet to remain in Monterrey in order to secure Javier Aguirre’s final call-up spot and have the opportunity to move to more competitive football than MLS after the World Cup.
Bartelame prefers to remain silent about a possible move to Miami
Belterrame has remained quiet about the situation and is concentrating on the upcoming FIFA dates as a member of the Mexican national team against Panama and Bolivia.
On his way to the Mexican national team’s training camp, the German player approached reporters and tried to talk about his future. However, the striker chose not to elaborate on the matter, fueling rumors that his departure was imminent. “They won’t let me talk,” he replied twice, clearly uncomfortable, before walking away.
Rayados doesn’t close doors, it sets conditions.
Monterrey’s board has not ruled out negotiations. Jose Antonio “Tato” Noriega, Sports President of Rayados, confirmed the approach with Inter Miami and admitted that the proposal is interesting for both parties.
“I can confirm that there are approaches and there are proposals. It’s an interesting offer for Belterrame in Germany and it could be interesting for us as well,” he explained.
The next few hours will be decisive in determining the future of the German Bertelame, but everything points to the fact that he will become Las Garzas’ new reinforcement, despite the advice of Paul Aguilar.
