Real Sociedad ended Barcelona’s historic winning streak. The Catalans arrived at Anoeta in the best form of the entire season and of their recent history, but Matarazzo’s side ended their run. The Catalans suffered their fifth loss of the season in San Sebastian, and third in regular domestic competition. This setback allowed Real Madrid to close the gap, and Barcelona, now just one point behind Barcelona, arrived in San Sebastian with nine consecutive La Liga wins and 11 in total. Their last defeat in a domestic tournament came on October 26 against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. Overall, they haven’t stumbled since November 25th against Chelsea in the Champions League.
The Catalan, who hit the post five times last night, also lost at Anoeta last season. The score was 1-0 with Becker’s goal. Real Sociedad’s victory also meant that Joao Garcia’s run in the Blaugrana goal came to an abrupt halt. The Salento goalkeeper has not conceded a goal in three games in La Liga.

The loss to Materazzo’s team also allowed Real Madrid to close the gap on Barcelona and move within points of Hansi Flick’s side.
Dae Young’s anger
The midfielder was extremely harsh with referee Gil Manzano. “I can’t even talk to the referee. And I’m the captain. The referee looks at me like I’m better than you… I told him to be on time, but he doesn’t obey. And when I told him, he gave me a card,” he said.
However, the Dutch player lamented their lack of precision in front of goal, saying, “I think we deserved to win. We had a lot of chances, but we have to take them. We missed too many. We played well, but we couldn’t score. Real’s goalkeeper had a great game.”
