ZInedine Zidane took part in the Slow Motion Talk program on Hamid Musaidi’s YouTube channel together with David Bettoni and spoke about his football experiences.Arrival in the first team: “I joined Madrid in 2014. I started in the first team on January 3 or 4, 2016. It was quick for me. In six months I found myself in the first team with Dawn. The transition will be natural. You know the dressing room and the way the players work. I know…we worked a lot at first. We arrived at 9 o’clock on Tuesday and left at 11 o’clock at night to get ready. The players said to themselves, ‘If we do a good job, we can do something great.’
“I remember there were three weeks. It was just the European Cup, the cup games, the league games, so I had three weeks to work. During those three weeks, I could work from Monday to the next game. We met the four captains, we told them what we wanted to do, and they were involved in our project. Physically, we knew they were not feeling well, and they weren’t feeling well. It wasn’t good. We were looking at all the data. We prepared a 20, 30-minute cardio training session over the course of three weeks and actually did it, because in reality, as we said, they knew they needed to do cardio and refuel, and at that point they had to practice for six months.
Xabi Alonso caught off guard, mentions Real Madrid firing while out with partner
Turning point: “The game against Wolfsburg helped us in the Champions League final and even in La Liga. Until the final we showed that we were contenders. They told us that if we played Atlético Madrid or Barcelona we would lose 100%. If we work together, we can beat them, and that’s what happened. In January we didn’t beat them, but at the end of the season we beat both Barcelona in La Liga and Atlético Madrid in the Champions League. ”
Relationship with the players: “At Real Madrid we had free rein with the players. For me, that’s what makes the team strong, that you’re there for the players. If you don’t understand that, you can’t continue in this profession. We’re there to support them. You’re there for them.” You have to show that. For the dressing room to accept what you want to do, we have to be kind to them. If the players don’t agree with everything that’s given to them, the training sessions, something will always happen.” I think they had a lot of fun with us. ”
