WWith just five months left until the start of the 2026 World Cup, participating teams are beginning to finalize key aspects of logistics, accommodation and sporting plans. One of them is Portugal, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, who have already decided where they will focus during the tournament.
According to Spanish journalist Alejandro de la Rosa, the Portuguese national team chose a luxury resort in the Riviera Maya as their World Cup “bunker”, prioritizing comfort, privacy and first-class facilities for their star players and the rest of the team.
Fairmont Mayakoba, the chosen one
The chosen venue is the Fairmont Mayakoba Riviera Maya, a luxury five-star resort located a few kilometers from Playa del Carmen. This choice is not only due to the luxury of the complex, but also due to its strategic geographical location.
During the group stage, Portugal will be based in Houston and Miami, which are a two-hour and just over one-hour flight from the Riviera Maya, respectively, making travel easier and reducing the team’s physical exhaustion.
A resort surrounded by nature and a special feeling
The Fairmont Mayakoba stands out for being surrounded by a privileged natural environment. Occupying 97 hectares of rainforest and coastline, the resort is surrounded by lush vegetation, crystal clear waterways and direct access to the beach.
