Lionel Messi has become one of soccer’s brightest stars. But off the field, he shines with the same intensity.
Antonella Roccuzzo, his life partner, wife and mother of his three children, came into Leo’s life when he was six years old. After years together, Messi revealed that he continues to make her crazy about him.

Leo, every detail
Without a doubt, Messi’s time at Barcelona, PSG and Inter Miami, as well as his career with Argentina’s club and national team, is the subject of much debate. And all the while, his wife was by his side.
Antonella is the cousin of Lucas Scaglia, one of Messi’s teammates in Newell’s youth team, and their bond began when they were still children. They became estranged when Leo began his soccer career, but kept in touch via email until 2010, when Leo introduced her as his official girlfriend just before the South African World Cup.
Their first child, Thiago, was born in November 2012, followed by Mateo in September 2015. Ant and Leo then decided to get married on June 30, 2017, and the couple welcomed their third child, Ciro, almost a year later in March 2028.
After years together, training sessions, daily routines and their children’s school schedules, Lionel revealed how he has strengthened and maintained his love with his wife. In an intimate interview with Argentine streaming channel LuzuTV, the Inter Miami captain revealed his secret.
“I’m not very active, but I do have a romantic side,” he begins, explaining that there are days when he goes several hours without seeing Antonella, so he tries to leave her a small gift every day to let her know he’s thinking of her.
“I’m very thoughtful. I always leave her little gifts, little details, little things,” he confesses with a nervous laugh, admitting that he finds it difficult to leave her handwritten notes.
However, the 38-year-old soccer star said that because he finds it difficult to put his feelings and thoughts into words, he prefers to show his love through actions, and that Antonella is more expressive than he is in that sense.
“We talked and we had discussions, because she stopped being[expressive]and I didn’t like it that much and was a lot colder. At one point, I said to her, ‘You’re not what you used to be,'” he revealed, indicating that this kind of conversation is also part of the bond they build and work on every day.
Meanwhile, Messi’s comments serve as a reminder that even among the most famous couples, their relationships are built and maintained through simple gestures, honest dialogue and constant adjustment.
