But the former Manchester United player believes that to match the two footballing legends, he must first compete against his rivals off the field.

Lamine Yamal must stay focused
Lamine joined Rose at the age of seven and trained with the club, becoming the youngest player to make his debut for the club in La Liga. At just 18 years old, he has already won several awards, including two La Liga titles, one Spanish Super Cup and one Copa del Rey.
Despite this, former Champions League winner Dwight Yorke said social media could cause youngsters, including Ramin, to lose focus, which could have a negative impact on Rose’s young stars.
“Looking in from the outside, you can’t help but admire someone of Lamine Yamal’s caliber,” Yorke began to explain in a conversation with Foot Italia, adding, “But with the advent of social media, these young kids have no place to hide anymore. That’s the nature of the world we’re in today and we need to understand that.”
He also compared the young striker’s time and career to that of the Argentina and Portugal captains, saying that staying focused will be key to developing his full potential.
“In the case of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, we didn’t see much on social media. These young players are everywhere. If Yamal is distracted from football, I think that can be a big obstacle for him,” he said.
Despite these comparisons, Lamine himself has stated that he does not want to follow in the footsteps of CR7 or Messi, and instead wants to forge his own path away from the similarities between the two legends.
“He’s young, he’s learning, he’s still developing. The kid hasn’t reached his full potential yet. Over the next couple of years we’ll start to see if he’s the real deal… There’s no doubt he’s a treasure trove of potential, like all great players, but it comes down to personality,” Yorke concluded.
Meanwhile, Lamine will remain at the club until 2031 after signing a contract on his 18th birthday and is preparing for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Bilbao this Wednesday, January 7, at the King Abdullah Sports City.
