Inter Miami want to repeat their achievements in 2025 and continue to show that they are aware that in order to do so it is essential to field a huge squad and strengthen the Herons’ weak point, the defensive line. That is why the club has confirmed the addition of 26-year-old right-back Facundo Mula, who joins on a free transfer from Racing Club.
Inter Miami announces first signing of the year
Lionel Messi’s quiet class stands out as he delivers the MLS trophy to the police
Inter Miami has officially announced the arrival of Facundo Moura as one of their players under contract for the 2026 season. The defender has signed a contract until June 2029, marking his first professional experience outside Argentina.
Mura joins to fill the position vacated by Marcelo Weigand, who has returned to Boca Juniors after two seasons at the club. The board selected a proven full-back with speed and good attacking ability.
I’m very happy to be joining the club, I’m looking forward to working and I’m excited to continue winning titles. I hope to see you soon and enjoy the new year. Let’s go to Intel!
The numbers behind Facundo Mura’s move to Miami
During his time with Racing, Facundo Moura won four titles and made 148 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 goals and providing 15 assists. These numbers confirm his offensive projection and consistency, two key ingredients for a modern-day fullback.
Not only did Mura have the option of continuing in Argentine football, but clubs such as River Plate were also set to follow suit. However, the possibility of playing in MLS as a starter and above all the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi made him decide to accept Inter Miami’s offer.
Possibility of signing with Inter Miami
The arrival of Mura and Sergio Reguilon appears to provide cover at full-back, while Miami will also be close to completing the arrival of 25-year-old Brazilian central defender Mikael, who arrives from Palmeiras to complete the reinforcement of the Herons’ defensive sector.
Negotiations are moving towards a loan deal with an option to buy, allowing the club to assess his suitability. Palmeiras is looking to recoup some of the roughly $6 million investment it made in acquiring him from the Houston Dynamo.
Miami are also looking for the profile of a midfielder who can bring balance to the team and replace Sergio Busquets. Giovani Lo Celso is the most likely candidate, but negotiations with Real Betis appear to be on hold.
