David Beckham ended the year by celebrating the biggest moments of his life, but his relationship with his eldest son Brooklyn remains fractured, and he looks back on it with undeniable sadness.
In a new Instagram post, Beckham described 2025 as a year he will “forever remember” and listed the personal and professional accomplishments that have defined the past 12 months.
Beckham family celebrates Inter Miami’s MLS title with tearful hugs and heartfelt joy
Turning 50, being knighted, and winning MLS as co-owner of Inter Miami CF all featured prominently. What was equally obvious was who was missing.
“In 2025, I was very fortunate to have had a year filled with moments I’ll never forget, from the age of 50, to knighthood (which still weighs on me), to ending with winning MLS as an owner,” Beckham wrote.
It is widely believed that the celebrations surrounding that event brought the relationship with Brooklyn to a breaking point.
Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham missed all of Beckham’s birthday events across multiple countries for several weeks.
Since then, the couple have not attended any Beckham family gatherings and reportedly have blocked David, Victoria Beckham and their siblings on social media.
The Instagram carousel Beckham shared included 20 moments from this year. Photos showed her having fun with other children Romeo, Cruz, and Harper during holidays and celebrations. Brooklyn was not visible in any of the images.
Beckham thanked his family in general terms but did not name his children individually, a subtle change from past posts.
“I am so grateful to my wonderful wife, wonderful children, friends, and team that I work with every day. None of this would have happened without you,” he wrote. “But as Sir Alex Ferguson would say, ‘Move on.’ Thank you for the wonderful memories, 2025 will be remembered forever. @victoriabeckham I love you and our children.”
Public milestones, private distances
Brooklyn and Nicola’s absence goes far beyond one event. The couple skipped Christmas in the Cotswolds and instead remained in the US, with Nicola later saying she “loved being at home” after finishing filming the thriller Pretty Ugly.
They have continued to present a united front amid increased public scrutiny. Earlier this week, Nicola shared a photo of her and Brooklyn relaxing together in matching gray outfits. “We didn’t plan the outfit,” she wrote, to which Brooklyn responded, “My sweet pie.”
The post drew an immediate response from fans, many of whom urged Brooklyn to reunite with her parents. Comments included pleas such as “Please call your parents. Life is too short” and “Never forget where you came from.”
Brooklyn was also absent from Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty’s wedding, which was attended by the rest of the Beckham family. According to reports, there was no contact between Brooklyn and his family for several months following the uproar surrounding David’s 50th birthday.
Cruz Beckham later addressed rumors that his family had unfollowed Brooklyn on social media and offered a different explanation.
“My mom and dad never unfollowed their son…let’s get the facts straight. They woke up blocked…and so did I,” Cruz wrote.
While David and Victoria celebrated Holly’s wedding in England, Brooklyn shared a Grinch-themed post from Los Angeles. Over the past year, he and Nicola have missed numerous Beckham family birthdays, holidays and gatherings.
Nicolas later seemed to hint at his feelings by quoting Brigitte Bardot.
“If I could do something about the way humans treat each other, I would do it, but since I can’t, I stick to animals,” she wrote.
