Inter Miami made history by winning their first MLS title. With a commanding 3-1 scoreline, Javier Mascherano’s side were crowned in front of their home fans at Chase Stadium in a match that once again featured Leo Messi.
With an own goal from Eddie Ocampo and goals from Rodrigo de Paul and Taddeo Allende, the Herons defeated a Vancouver team that only scored a goal from Ali Ahmed, but Thomas Muller was unable to contribute to the Whitecaps with a goal or assist in this game.

Lionel Messi’s revenge: Argentina star beats Thomas Muller in final
Thomas Muller and Messi have already played against each other several times, with the Argentine’s most memorable perhaps being the 2014 World Cup final, which ended with the German’s fourth World Cup victory.
Now, in a completely different environment, in a lower-ranked game, and at a different stage in his career, Messi managed to defeat Muller in the final, giving Inter Miami their first league title in the process.
Thomas Muller breaks his silence after losing in MLS final
After the match, the German striker thanked Vancouver supporters and shared a video on his social networks expressing his thoughts on the match.
It was a tough night…we could have won tonight, we gave it our all, but it wasn’t enough. Congratulations Miami!
For Müller, that element of Messi is different, as he made clear in these short but powerful words:
Leo Messi gave three assists, but I didn’t give one. He won the duel. He secured the title, there’s no point in pretending otherwise.
In addition to the video, Thomas Muller shared a message of gratitude to Whitecaps fans: “What a great journey so far with my team and Whitecaps family!”
At the end of his message, the German captain expressed his gratitude for all the support he has received during this, his first season in MLS.
Thomas Muller’s performance in his first MLS season
Muller arrived in Vancouver in the summer transfer window and made an immediate impact on the Canadian side. He quickly became the team’s mainstay, playing over 500 minutes in the regular season and recording seven goals and three assists. Although he only contributed one goal in the playoffs, he was a key player in every game.
