Panini America unveils first major piece in history of iconic sticker collection

WAs the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws take place and anticipation builds across North America, Panini America has unveiled a special cover exclusively for Mexico, the first in the history of the iconic sticker collection.

This landmark decision adds new meaning to the preparations for the first World Cup to be co-hosted by three countries, and shows how far-reaching and ambitious the 2026 tournament is expected to be.

Panini has already announced the Canadian and U.S. cover designs for its upcoming album, a colorful presentation centered around the tournament’s official emblem, the FIFA World Cup trophy, and the company’s timeless “bicycle kick” logo, which takes inspiration from Carlo Parola.

The biggest edition of the tournament

This global coverage will be rolled out in the coming months as the largest tournament in history, featuring 48 national teams from Canada, Mexico and the United States, takes place around the world. What makes this cycle different from previous cycles is that Mexico will also receive its own exclusive cover, marking the first time Panini has produced a host country exclusive edition of a World Cup sticker album.

The importance of this movement goes far beyond design. The Panini FIFA World Cup Collection has been a global tradition for more than 50 years, captivating generations of fans since the first edition debuted at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.

By creating a Mexico-specific cover in 2026, Panini pays homage to its history and recognizes the country’s central role as a three-time World Cup host and one of the sport’s most passionate markets. The special cover will also launch a limited-time pre-order campaign on Amazon, adding commercial momentum to the announcement.

One of the most powerful cultural extensions

From FIFA’s perspective, the sticker album remains one of the most powerful cultural extensions of the World Cup. Romy Guy, FIFA’s Chief Business Officer, emphasized that Panini collections have long served as a unifying tradition that unites families, collectors and fans across generations.

He described the album as more than a collectible, calling it a symbol of the anticipation and shared joy that defines the tournament experience. For Panini America, the Mexico cover represents a new way to celebrate both the World Cup and the brand’s growing footprint in North America.

CEO Mark Warsop said the Canada/U.S. version is just the first step in a broader strategy related to stickers, trading cards and other collectibles throughout the tournament cycle. The addition of the Mexico-only cover reinforces that 2026 will not follow a traditional template in any way, from the tournament’s 48-team format to the way fans can participate in the most famous collection.
