Lamine Yamal’s attack and play have made headlines many times. For this very reason, this promising young Barcelona player has been compared to other players such as the club’s former captain, Lionel Messi.
But the 18-year-old striker, who is following his own path, has revealed that he would be unbalanced if he became part of Rose’s defense.
Ramin gives new message on social media, sparking reinforcements for Chelsea
Yamal talks about what he would hate if he were a defender
Lamine joined Barcelona at the age of seven. He trained at La Masa, the club’s youth academy. On April 29, 2023, when he was 15 years, 9 months and 16 years old, he made his debut for Barcelona, led by former manager Xavi Herndez, in a match against Real Betis (4-0 win).
Yamal has since become the youngest player to make his La Liga debut for the club and has already scored 32 goals and provided 43 assists in 120 games. He was also part of the team that won La Liga twice, the Spanish Super Cup once and the Copa del Rey once.
The young player was also named the best young player at Euro 2024 and finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings after leading Rose to a domestic treble.
It’s hard to imagine an 18-year-old forward with a short but successful career playing in defence. But even Lamine himself finds it difficult to imagine himself playing in that position. In fact, when asked on CBS’ 60 Minutes about his game and what he dislikes about being a defender, Yamal answered:
If I’m a defender, I don’t want players to keep bothering me. I want to tell him to calm down. My friends will make memes about me.
Ramin also revealed that he tries not to feel the pressure of the match and enjoys it. “Football is everything to me. It was the first love of my life and it always will be,” he said.
Meanwhile, Yamal and Barcelona bounced back from their 3-0 loss to Chelsea with a 3-1 win over Arabs, including a goal from Lamine and a brace from Dani Olmo.
Looking to extend their winning streak, they will face Atltico Madrid on Tuesday, December 2nd at the Spotify Camp Nou.
