Cristiano Ronaldo and Diogo Jota were part of the team that defeated Spain in the Nations League final on June 8, but the final ended 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
However, a month later, on July 3, Jota’s death in a tragic car accident that also claimed the life of his older brother Andre Silva shocked the football world. Almost five months after the title win and Jota’s death at Munich’s Allianz Arena, CR7 made a grand gesture.

A luxurious gift from Cristiano to his teammates
The Portugal national team captain presented Jota and the entire 2025 Nations League winning team with personalized watches specially commissioned by Jacob Arabo, founder of the luxury brand Jacob & Company.
The 40-year-old Portuguese player presented this special gift during the first match of the World Cup qualifiers against Armenia. According to Portuguese television station SIC Noticias, Diogo’s watch was received by his family.
“Skeleton dial, bespoke design and Portuguese coat of arms – a timepiece as special as the champion himself,” explains the luxury brand’s official X account. “Limited to 35 pieces, this Epic X captures the spirit of winning on and off the field.”
The watch features a 44 mm steel case with the Portuguese national team crest at 12 o’clock, the UEFA Nations League trophy on the bridge and the motto “Champions 2025”. Additionally, the watch also features the colors of the national flag, with red mesh and green, white and silver detailing.
The value of the watches is unknown, but Jacob’s official website confirms that they are unique watches and there are only 35 of them in the world, writing on Instagram: “35 players. 35 watches. One historic victory.”
It is estimated that the price can exceed several thousand euros, due to the materials used in the manufacture of the watch and its exclusivity, which increases the cost, but its sentimental value definitely exceeds that.
Cristiano remembers Morgan and Diogo
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Al Nasr recalled the moment he heard the tragic news of his teammate’s death:
“I couldn’t believe it when I got the message. I cried so hard. It was a very difficult moment for everyone, for the country, for my family, for my friends, for my teammates… It was devastating. It’s very, very sad news.”
Furthermore, to say goodbye to his team-mate, Jota shared a black and white photo of Diogo celebrating in the Portugal shirt on his Instagram account, writing: “It doesn’t make sense. We were just together in the national team and you just got married.” My condolences to your family, your wife and your children and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in peace Diogo and Andre. We will all miss you,” Cristiano wrote.
Ronaldo shared great moments with Diogo in the Portuguese national team, playing together in 32 matches and scoring a combined 7 goals.
