TCincinnati’s 4-0 loss to Inter Miami in the conference semifinals left a lot to be desired and a few things that didn’t go well. One of them was an image of a teenage Hadebe leaving the field with Leo Messi’s shirt under his arm, an action that infuriated former Canadian international and current television analyst Kaylin Kyle.
The 37-year-old didn’t mince words when assessing his defender’s attitude. “That’s the most frustrating thing,” he lamented on Apple TV, saying he seemed more concerned about getting the Argentine’s memorabilia than about the big defeat. “It looked like he was coming out of the game, and Messi was completely overshadowed.”
Messi shines and gives his all in warm-up before Inter Miami CF vs. Cincinnati
The former player understands the greatness of the “10”, but thinks the context changes everything: “Messi is the greatest of all time, he won everything completely… But you just lost 4-0. Is it really time to ask for his shirt? For me, it feels embarrassing.”
Kyle also appealed for respect for the fans, saying: “The people in your team support you week in and week out, every season. If you get run over in the semi-finals, the first thing you do is find someone to replace them with. If you want to hang their shirts at home, that’s fine… but do it inside, not right after they go off the field.”
Bad image?
He said the scene had a negative impact on both the players and the club: “It’s a bad image for FC Cincinnati and for the people who were on the field.”
